FAQ’S
Can you overdose on CBD?
CBD is generally safe, non-toxic, and with no known lethal dose. The World Health Organization (WHO) published a comprehensive review of CBD research in 2017 and determined that taking as much as 1500 mg daily is well tolerated by humans. The National Cancer Institute explains on their website that CBD receptors are not present on the brainstem, therefore CBD compounds cannot interrupt respiration. For context, the brainstem controls vital functions such as respiration, and this is how medications such as opioids, which interact with brainstem receptors, can be lethal.
Does CBD make you feel high?
No. There are over 100 chemical compounds called cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. Two of the most active cannabinoids produced by the hemp plant are THC and CBD. THC is the molecule in the cannabis family associated with an intoxicating effect. CBD, even at extremely high doses, will never make you feel “high.”
Does CBD Make You Sleepy?
CBD doesn’t make you tired. Instead, it supports better sleep by calming the nervous system and reducing stress and anxiety—common barriers to rest. While some people report drowsiness, research more often suggests CBD promotes wakefulness, focus, and balance by helping regulate the body’s sleep–wake cycle. Studies have also shown that it helps regulate sleep cycles so people who have a hard time falling asleep, or staying asleep, report going to sleep faster and sleeping for longer when they use our CBD Tincture daily.
How does CBD make you feel?
While the effects of CBD are different for everyone, a long-time CBD user, Andrea, has said, “I have been consistently using the Doc D’s CBD Tincture for 10 months now and have noticed that I am sleeping deeper and less triggered by life’s stressors.” Other users have described CBD’s effects as promoting “an overall relaxed feeling”—one that “helps me feel like everything has just calmed down.”
How does CBD work?
CBD interacts with our body’s natural regulatory system, the endocannabinoid system (ECS). The ECS contains cannabinoid receptors (CB1 and CB2) located in our brain, immune system, and throughout our body. Research has indicated that the ECS is critically responsible for regulating and controlling many of our bodily functions like:
Learning & Memory
Appetite
Pain Control
Emotional Processing
Sleep
Inflammatory & Immune Responses
When any of these functions are imbalanced, the ECS is responsible for helping your body return to homeostatis, or balance. Supplementing with CBD can increase your ECS’s ability to provide balance. To learn more check out our blog, CBD and the ECS-How it Works
How long does it take for CBD to take effect?
When people try our lotion for pain relief, the effects can be immediate. For our internal tincture, consistency is paramount, as it is a natural plant remedy so its effects can be subtle. While some notice they slept a little better or recovered from a workout quickly in the first week, others will tell you it can take anywhere from 4-6 weeks to notice results (and even sometimes longer). Many report that they notice it more when they are NOT taking the tincture daily, as they are not sleeping as well or are more stressed out. We suggest using it twice per day, starting with a low amount and increasing it slowly. Our CBD tincture has 50mg per dose and some folks start with half a dose (25 mg) 1-2x/day and increase to a full dose over time. Is CBD Legal?
Yes. CBD is derived from hemp, which is federally legal in all 50 states. To be legal, the THC level (the cannabinoid which produces the “high” feeling) must be less than 0.3%. All of our products contain zero THC.
What are some potential benefits of CBD?
Research is still ongoing, but studies suggest that CBD may help to:
Ease muscle pain & joint discomfort
Reduce inflammation
Regulate sleep cycles
Promote a sense of focus and calm
Support the immune system
Hydrate, moisturize and protect the skin barrier
Reduce dry skin, break outs and other skin issues
What is CBD?
Cannabidiol, or CBD, is found in the cannabis plant. Cannabis is a plant category that includes hemp and marijuana. Doc D formulates all products derived from the hemp plant; a plant that has been used for millennia by many cultures and does not get you high.
